ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Natalie, a KGH qualified hypnobirthing teacher, and I live in Surrey with my husband and two girls.

I did a degree in Psychology in what feels like a lifetime ago, then worked in the world of PR and social media for over 10 years.

Fast forward a few (many) years, and it was at the start of my second pregnancy that I discovered hypnobirthing. The techniques, knowledge and confidence I gained without a doubt led to the positive birth experience that I had, learning to make informed decisions for myself and my baby and trusting in myself.

Having had two births, one with and one without even knowing about hypnobirthing, I have first-hand experience of the impact hypnobirthing can have towards a positive, informed and reassuring birth - and trust me, it does!

And that's why I trained with KGH (a course accredited by the Royal College of Midwives) and launched Birthing Matters, offering classes throughout Surrey and online.

The sole purpose of my classes are to help as many people as possible to feel supported, educated and confident when it comes to preparing for their birth.

Have questions or would like to book a class with me? Get in touch and I'd be more than happy to help!

MY APPROACH

From my own experience and working with other parents, a lot of the time we're told that birth is scary, painful, you're told what to do, and something to just 'get through'.

This isn't only misleading, but also unfair! It's these negative preconceptions of fear and anxiety that we work on changing, and instead replace them with a positive and confident approach to birth, no matter what type of birth you're planning on having or do have.

How? The Birthing Matters courses include evidence-based techniques that are both logical and practical, covering a wide range of topics such as:

  • What hypnobirthing is (and isn't)

  • The physiology of the body during pregnancy and birth (i.e. what's actually going on inside you!)

  • Physical preparation: positions for birth, perineal massage, pelvis floor exercises, baby positioning

  • Navigating the maternity system, how to make educated, informed choices for you and your baby, and what your birth rights are

  • Breathing and relaxation techniques, anchors and visualisations

  • The importance of your birth partner and their role

  • Understanding your options; from hospital to home births, maternal to medical care

  • Tools and techniques you can rely on, no matter the road your birth takes, to maintain a sense of control and calm

The course is for every type of birth, whether you're hoping for a home birth, caesarean section, birth centre birth - you name it.

The content we'll cover isn't exclusive to any one number of birth either, and is for first or subsequent pregnancies too.

It's my job to make sure you feel equipped, informed and reassured when it comes to birth.

I make sure the content is relevant to everyone, and if you'd like to discuss your experience, circumstances or to get more information on what's involved please do get in touch!
